Fall 2003
Update
Dear Family & Friends:
Nigerian Summer
Missionary Trip Update: On behalf of the eight people that
traveled to
Nigeria
with John for the Unity for
Africa
conference, we like to
thank you for praying and giving to support us. God, through
team members of unity for
Africa
, saved over one
thousand people in eight cities and one town in
Nigeria
. The
breakdown of how and where the people came from:
1.
Owerri
City
,
Imo
State
, 200 inmates at the Owerri
prison made the decision for Christ. Also, 600 people made
decisions for Christ including 27 police officers. Additional
1,500 people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit when Dr.
Peters spoke in the largest non-denominational church in the
city of
Owerri
.
2.
Eket city,
Akwa
Ibom
State
, 100 decisions for Christ
including the king of Eket Uyo city,
Akwa
State
, 25 decision for Christ
including a visit to an orphanage home where Unity for
Africa
team members ministered to the children and gave money to the
home for the care of the children.
3.
Calabar city,
Cross
River
State
, many people including the
deputy Governor and other officials signed up to be members of
Unity for
Africa
and to help spread the
message of reconciliation through Jesus Christ. After Calabar,
team members traveled to the city of
Ogoja
where the
owner of Ogoja plaza hotel gave his life to Christ.
4.
Abuja
city, (North of
Nigeria) capital city of
Nigeria
, 20 decisions for Christ. From
Abuja
they traveled to the northern
city of
Jos
where they were sent to
different churches. 70 people made decisions for Christ in the
city of
Jos
.
5.
Kano
City
,
Cano
State
, team members had the
opportunity to preach in the Islamic heartland of
Nigeria
where
seven people gave their lives to Christ in that city at a local
church. God restored many marriages that were at the verge of
divorce.
6.
The brethren in
Kano
were so delighted to see Unity
for
Africa
team members because of
the encouragement they received from the
USA
team.
7.
For John, it was a tears provoking time to see
the brethren he left behind twenty-two years ago still strong in
the faith. John had not been to
Kano
since
1991.
8.
The Christians in
Kano
begged Unity for
Africa
team members not to
forget them, to pray for them and their families on a regular
basis. Many Christians in
Kano
have lost their lives, loved
ones, properties and Churches due to religious violence visited
on Christians by Muslims in
Kano
.
9.
Uzuakoli town,
Abia
State
, was the final stop of the
unity for
Africa
team on this year’s missionary trip. After sharing the plan of
salvation with the lepers, 16 of them gave their lives to
Christ.
10.
On
August 30, 2003
, team members left
Nigeria
with mixed emotions, one of
sadness because of the over one thousand new believers who gave
their lives to Christ whom we left behind and the many Christian
friends we have, and worked with in
Nigeria
. On the other hand, one of joy
because we were leaving
Nigeria
to rejoin with our loved ones
and friends in the
USA
.
11.
Other major evens that took place on this trip
were: team members visiting the house of the first executive
Governor of Imo State, Dr. Sam Mbakwe and offered prayer for his
health.
Finally, thank
you our beloved partners for making a huge difference in the
kingdom
of
God
in
Nigeria
. Because
of you more than one thousand new believers have been rescued
from Satan’s kingdom of light and joy. Without your support this
trip would not have been possible. Again, Thank you!
We love and appreciate you.
John and Justina
